Infrastructure

Lack of access to drinking water, inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene aggravate the situation of poverty, vulnerability and insecurity.

Our objective is to reduce the incidence of diseases resulting from the consumption of unsafe water due to the misuse of infrastructures, their poor condition or non-existence.

It basically focuses on the following activities: rehabilitation of wells, construction of sanitary latrines, awareness raising and the creation of new local water management committees.

We have recently improved access to drinking water sources for the population of the Ibo District. The work was organized according to the condition of each well to be rehabilitated.

In general, the following tasks were carried out:

  1. Excavation
  2. Cleaning
  3. Masonry work
  4. Pump installation
  5. Construction of drainage channels
  6. Disinfection of wells Local workers were trained by the IBO Foundation and the population was made aware of the correct use of each well.

Result:

7 wells rehabilitated in Matemo and 4 wells rehabilitated in Quirambo.

15 carpentry students participated in the works.

The consequences of better and easier access to quality drinking water will also influence human development itself.
